Ganchong Water Treatment Works, Package 1

This is for the procurement, construction and commissioning of a 80 million litres a day (MLD) raw water intake plant and a water treatment plant. The raw water from Sungai Pahang is abstracted by pumps and delivered to the water treatment plant about 1 km away. SKE Alliance Sdn Bhd was the sub-contractor for the main treatment train as well as the civil structures for the intake plant and the concrete tanks in the sludge treatment plant.

Intake plant:

  • Riverbank protection works
  • Intake works and raw water pumping station

Main treatment plant:

  • Aerator and mixing chamber
  • Flocculation tanks and clarifiers
  • Rapid sand filters
  • Control buildings
  • Chlorine contact tank and clear water tank
  • Treated water pumping station
  • Elevated reservoir (1.14 million litres)

Sludge treatment plant:

  • Washwater recovery tanks
  • Sludge balancing tanks
  • Sludge thickeners

The project was completed on time and successfully commissioned. It was later officiated by the Prime Minister himself.
