Sungai Kinta Dam
Water Supply Scheme
This project takes water from the Sungai Kinta Dam via a 5 km long pipe into a pre-treatment plant. The pre-treatment capacity is 238 MLD (million litres a day). It involves chemical dosing, flocculation and pre-sedimentation. The pre-treated water will be channelled into the existing aerator for further treatment. This plant is not typical in that it draws water from a dam and feeds a conventional treatment plant.

Our scope of work included the engineering, construction / procurement, testing and commissioning of the following:
Civil works:
- Four mechanical flocculation tanks
- Four pre-sedimentation tanks
Mechanical & electrical works:
- Mechanical flocculators
- Tube settlers for two pre-sedimentation tanks
- Chemical dosing systems for potassium permanganate, alum, lime, and polyelectrolyte
- Motive water system and water sampling system
- Instrumentation and control system
- Electrical supply works
The project was completed and commissioned successfully, with no major issues throughout the defects liability period.
