HORAS Project (Hybrid Off-River Augmentation Storage)

This project helps to increase the availability and reliability of raw water supply to three major water treatment plants in Selangor (SSP1, SSP2, and SSP3). In addition to existing dams at Sungai Selangor and Sungai Tinggi, a new pond had been constructed to hold additional water. This project builds the infrastructure to abstract 300 MLD (million litres a day) of raw water from that pond into Sungai Selangor, which feeds those treatment plants.

Our scope of work included the engineering, construction / procurement, testing and commissioning of the following main items:

Civil works:

  • Earthworks and piling
  • Jetty type intake structure
  • RC channel / box culvert to convey the raw water by pump to Sungai Selangor
  • RC channel / box culvert to convey the raw water by gravity to Sungai Selangor

Mechanical works:

  • Five raw water pumps with the associated valves and piping
  • Two gravity flow control penstocks

This project is ongoing and nearing completion at the time of writing.
